Dr. Donna D. EasonDonna is a Bradenton native and a graduate of Manatee High School. Her parents, Dewey and Helen Eason are long-time Bradenton residents and are well-known for their business and community involvement. Donna began baking in high school where she merged her love of science with “kitchen chemistry”. She attended USF and completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and then earned her PhD in Medical Sciences Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Donna is now a Research Assistant Professor in Molecular Genetics at the Children’s Research Institute in St. Petersburg. Her current work involves the evolution of the antigen receptor genes, development of animal models for human cancers using transgenic zebrafish, and determining the function of the novel gene BIVM. |
