Donna is a Bradenton native and a graduate of Manatee High School. Her parents, Dewey and Helen Eason are long-time Bradenton residents and are well-known for their business and community involvement. Donna began baking in high school where she merged her love of science with “kitchen chemistry”. While raising her two daughters, Caroline and Crystal, Donna worked in the family bridal business, The Beautiful Bride, and learned a great deal about small business operations and customer relations. She returned to USF and completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and then earned her PhD in Medical Sciences Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Donna is now a Research Assistant Professor in Molecular Genetics at the Children’s Research Institute in St. Petersburg. Her current work involves the evolution of the antigen receptor genes, development of animal models for human cancers using transgenic zebrafish, and determining the function of the novel gene BIVM. Many of her publications are listed in her curriculum vitae and can be viewed in their entirety at www.pubmed.gov.
Donna applies her analytical training to the daily business operations as well as her desserts. Her love of chocolate inspires her to create mouth-watering desserts that satisfy your taste buds. As a scientist in the kitchen, she optimizes her recipes and works to provide consistently reproducible, delicious desserts. These high standards are maintained in her business relations where she always strives to make her employees and customers feel special. She lives by the Golden Rule “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
